S.L.O.T.H.
Spiritual Leader Of The Household
Guys, when you fill out your income tax, do you check the box as “ Head of Household”?
If you do you are stating, to the government, that you are responsible for everything that goes on in your house. The government, therefore, will hold you accountable.
Additionally, if you are a husband, a Dad, and hold the, Head of the Household, office, God considers you accountable for the spiritual welfare of that household.
Now, you may say, Nope but God says, Yep. Consider these Bible verses:
Ephesians 5:21-33
Submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up
for her, ...
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 ESV
And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
So, how’s it going? It’s not a suggestion. We guys need to take this seriously and ask God to give us the insight and strength to do so.
These verses are not saying we should be Bible scholars nor are they saying we should be holier than thou, nor are they saying our wives have no part or influence. But, what we are being told is that we should be examples of the average guy trying to be above average. We should have our heart being changed by Jesus, we should pray at the meal, over our children and with our wife. Share what you’re reading in the Bible with your family. Be the first up and ready for church. Respect your wife as a Godly man should. Be noticeably changed by the saving grace of Jesus.
I’m here to tell you it is a hard climb. You won’t get there over night, but with focus, dedication and purpose you will begin to be blessed by God each day. And as you go so will go your family. God will bless your efforts as you dedicate yourself to becoming the man He created you to be. Slothfulness won’t get you there.
Being a Sloth
A sloth is actually a slow-moving, tree-dwelling mammal, but it has become a synonym for "lazybones."
In Christianity, Sloth is about a person not wanting to work, because of their lack of motivation. The person will be physically inactive and neglect what God has said.
Slothful people tend to sleep too much and lie around on the couch. Being slothful at work could get you fired, and slothful students won't do well at school.
The furry kind of sloth is slow due to its nature, but a slothful person should get a move on!
If you are a sloth you have a habitual disinclination to exertion. This sin is unique in that it's the only one characterized by a lack of something rather than an abundance of something.
So to become a S.L.O.T.H. you’ll need to fill in what’s lacking.
