Whether you’re singing, “ You gotta friend” by James Taylor or “You gotta a friend in me” from Toy Story” it is for sure a good thing to have a good friend.
I had lunch the other day with a friend, a good friend. Whenever we get together, whether it’s been a day or several weeks in between, it’s like we’ve never been apart. Conversations, inside jokery, and heart to heart discussions are prevalent causing time to pass quickly.
The special aspect of our friendship is the truthfullness and transparency we share.
Listening, encouraging, and praying for each other is always at the heart of our time together.
“One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24
We all have people that surround us everyday.
People that we wave to, those we work with, guys at the local where we watch the Monday night game, family members and loved ones. How many are acquaintances and how many are close? How many will stick with you when times are rough, when you need someone to talk to?
A better question is, how are you trying to listen to, encorage, or pray for them? So many of us these days are in need of a good friend who cares enough to care.
Be that friend.

We all have people in our lives, most are friends and having friends is good. But I feel God puts certain people in your life that are there to really help you through this life. Jesus is by far our greatest friend, and he is sufficient, but he uses us to help walk our brothers and sisters through this world so that as we stumble or struggle we have that guy or gal to encourage us to keep our eye on Him. God is great and I thank Him for giving us friends.
