Colossians 3:17, the theme verse of Average Guy Ministries.
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Another way to say this verse is:
Be all about representing Jesus giving thanks to God.
These last three weeks we have talked about Jesus being our King, not letting satan turn us away from Jesus and realizing that Jesus has to know us.
Think about your everyday actions. If you lived according to this week’s scripture, do you think He would know you?
Let’s be honest, do you care? If you do, you’ll probably be all over this scripture. If you are wondering what you can do to give thanks to the Lord then read the scripture again and commit yourself to living that scripture verse. Wake up each morning and ask God to show you throughout the day how you can represent Jesus in every situation you enter into. When you complete your day, look back and ask God to point out to you changes you can make for the next day. If you ask Him from the heart, He’ll respond.
But, maybe you could care less. Why is that? I don’t ask that to mock you, nor do I ask that to make you feel like you don’t belong on this site. Listen, I was one who thought all of scripture and talk about God and Jesus was foolishness. Quite frankly, I thought it all was unbelievable. If this is you as well, please stick with us. If you have questions give me an email or comment right here on this blog. Give it a chance, it really is the most important decision you will ever make.
Guys, we’re rolling into Easter. The celebration of the gift to us from God. Remember John 3:16? God loves us so much that He gave us His Son, Jesus, to come and die for us? Jesus, no matter what He said or did, did it all for God the Father to pay the sin debt. And God the Father says to us, that if we believe this to be true, we can claim the payment as our own. That is the gospel and is unbelievable.
He did it all for you how about giving your all for Him?

In John chapter 15, Jesus says that unless we abide in Him, we can do nothing. He gives us the Holy Spirit as a helper when we confess Him as Lord. Abiding means giving ALL of ourselves over to Him so that He works in us to do His ways. Like you say it is a daily activity, moment by moment. Not easy but available to us.
To try to be like Jesus is tough. There are so many things that can set you off in a day. Traffic, lazy coworkers, a bad boss. The world is a dark place. For me constant prayer is essential to try to keep me focused on Jesus.
